The Pentland Hills Chess Club meets at 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday from the beginning of September to the end of June each year, and caters for players of all standards from beginner to strong club players. As the Roslin Glen Hotel is closed temporaily, the club has moved to the Loanhead Miners’ Welfare Club, 70-74 The Loan, Loanhead, a mile south of the edge of Edinburgh.

New players, whether beginners or experts, are always welcome.

The Club has around 23 members, runs two club competitions, has teams in Divisions 1, 2 & 3 of the the Edinburgh Chess League, one team competing in the Edinburgh Allegro Chess League and one team competing in the Scottish National Chess League. The Club was founded in 1985 and is affiliated to Chess Scotland.

Club membership fees are £45 per year (£22.50concessions), with new members enjoying a 50% reduction for the first year.
