The Pentland Hills Chess Club meets at 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday from the beginning of September to the end of June each year, and caters for players of all standards from beginner to strong club players. The club meets at the Loanhead Miners’ Welfare Club, 70-74 The Loan, Loanhead, a mile south of the edge of Edinburgh.

 

New members are welcome to come along, or phone the Secretary  on 0131-440 1618 in advance.

The Club has around 25 members, runs three club competitions, has two teams in the Edinburgh Chess League, one team competing in the Edinburgh Allegro Chess League and one team competing in the Scottish National Chess League. The Club was founded in 1985 and is affiliated to Chess Scotland.

 

Club membership fees are £60 per year (£40 concessions), with new members enjoying a 50% reduction for the first year.

The AGM will be on June 11th 2013.

 

David Begg wins the Club Championship with an unbeaten 4/5.  Jim Kilgour wins the Founders Cup with a perfect score of 7/7!

SC: Pentland Hills beat Wandering Dragons 2, winning 4½-1½ over the board and 7-2 on the handicap in the first round of the Summer Cup.

ECL: Pentland Hills 2 lost 2-4 in the play-off against Badgers Brook.

SNCL: Pentland Hills beat Woodmill Warriors 4-1 and gain promotion to Division 3.
